I was recently asked about my views on inclusion of students with disabilities in education and community.

I have a family member with Aspergers part of Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is in his mid 20s. Were he in Edmonton he would have benefited from the efforts of Autism Edmonton whose mission: to create a community where individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder are able to reach their full potential within an accepting community that provides safety, support and opportunity. I wholeheartedly endorse this.

There is also Edmonton Public Schools Interventions Programming that supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and is supported in the ward at Dovercourt Elementary, Rosslyn Jr. High and Ross Shepherd High School.

I would continue to keep an eye on and support these programs.
