Edmonton Urban Agriculture Survey - Shelley Tupper - Ward 2 - Edmonton

If elected I would have four years to improve urban agriculture in Edmonton. These are the things I would like to accomplish in that time frame:
- see an increase in the number of Community Gardens
- promoting Operation Fruit Rescue to reduce the amount of unharvested fruit
- increase the number of Junior and Senior High Schools participating in Urban Ag High
- increase the number of classrooms with an indoor garden through Little Green Thumbs.

I will work with schools to create community food hubs. (According to Edmonton’s food and urban agriculture strategy “A food hub is a place (usually a building or a cluster of buildings) that bring together a wide spectrum of food and agriculture related activities with the overall purpose of increasing access, capacity, visibility and the experience of sustainable urban and regional food systems within a city. Food hubs can operate as purely commercial, public and hybrid entities.” Strongly agree

As a city councillor I would consider implementing a policy for our city to reduce or eliminate food waste. Strongly agree
